Life is about stages and we truly want to agree with this basic truth that can’t be changed.
In 2012, I made one of the riskiest decisions of my entire life.
I resigned my job with the Bank having served in various capacities as a Relationship Officer, Relationship Manager; Profit Center Manager; Head of Credits & Marketing; Business Manager; and Branch Manager for various Nigerian Banks to include Standard Trust Bank/United Bank For Africa Plc; FirstInland Bank/First City Monument Bank Plc; BankPHB/KeyStone Ltd; & Diamond/Access Bank Plc for over a decade.
The intention for this decision is a burning desire I have had for many years even before I started working with the bank.
That desire was philosophical. It wasn’t just a dream, it was my realities.
I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my teeth…
Growing up was really tough. Incidentally, I was the last in 8 wonderful and God-fearing family.
I wanted to by all means to change my family’s fortune for good.
I remember, having to watch my father sell off his only bicycle to pay for my school fees.
As I grew older, I realized this situation wasn’t peculiar to my family only.
I realized so many families had even more intricate issues than we had as a family.
Some couldn’t even get even the 1 meal a day I was feeling so bad that we had.
Some had long forgotten about the usual festive moments where their kids would have to be clothed and gifts shared together as a family. For many, they would only wait for neighbors to send in the usual festive rice and stew.
2 Things caught my attention even more…
- Some families lose their children to untimely death because they couldn’t afford their health bills
- Many families retired back to the village after serving the Government for so long because they couldn’t afford to put a roof over their heads.
Our case was No. 2….
I remember how my mother had to force her way to return us back to a dilapidated house my father managed to erect decades ago even before some of us were born. According to him, he used the Udoji Freefall to complete the structure to where it was before we finally came back home.
On resigning from the bank, I decided this would be one of my foremost goals, but before that, since I didn’t have enough monies to start, I would start by selling for others first.
As planned, it all went well until I began ours – Trump-Hills Real Estate.
But little did I know that the industry was bedeviled with some very deadly fraudsters who would do everything smartly even with your high level of risk prevention mechanics to defraud you.
We had a share of this disaster which lasted for 4 good years.
But for the vision, the burning desire, the hunger to make an impact in this industry, we are glad to be back again.
This time, we are not just back to continue from where we started. But to ensure that whatever were our lapses in the first instance is totally eliminated this time.
Some of the lapses we had in the past include:
- Jumping right into selling without perfecting our documents.
- Not involving the Heads of The Relevant Government Authorities directly in our business deals
- Not Perfecting the Transfer of Ownership Titles Before Going Public
- Not Having Control of The Land Activities
- Hiring People With Little or No Background Information To Work With Us
- Not Exercising Due Diligence With Those Who Offered To Help Us
- Relaxing Our Policies On Human Relationship & Customer Services
- Lack of Supervision Directly By Owners On The Various Units
These and many more……
But I want to assure you that the lessons learned from the huge losses to the tune of N200m can never be undermined.
We are better today and stronger by his grace.

Today, we are no longer operating as just a one-man affair.
